Hello

My name is David McLeod, and I have almost three decades of experience in utilizing data and applied strategy to understand and combat the complex problems facing individuals, groups, organizations, and communities. I started SPEIR to teach others how to use the techniques I have assembled over the years to achieve their own personal and organizational goals.

My Story

Although I am now an experienced researcher, trainer, evaluator, and program developer, I began my journey decades ago with the same mission that has followed me throughout the years. I work to do everything within my power to make this world a safer, healthier, more caring, and compassionate place. My journey began as a police detective and tactical operator, and later I became a forensic social worker, working in criminal behavior, evaluation and assessment, and offender treatment. Most of my career at this point, however, has been spent as a professor researching the impact of trauma on human behavior, along with specific targeted strategies that can help provide alternative developmental pathways for people and the organizations (public and private). My focus now centers on measured systemic advancement and teaching others how to find their own pathways to not only overcome adversity, but to thrive in the midst of it all.

I was fortunate to learn early that success comes through partnership and teamwork. Throughout the past twenty years of my career, I have dedicated myself to learning how to assemble teams with a shared vision and diverse experiences to meet significant social challenges with limited resources. I can help you, and your organization utilize available assets to the best of your ability and expand your impact. I can provide the training and oversight needed to facilitate growth.

I've curated a system that works. At SPEIR we help people, organizations, and communities:

     (1) define their identity,

     (2) connect to their mission,

     (3) clarify their vision,

     (4) develop strategies to achieve thier goals,

     (5) implement evidence-based tactical pathways to fulfill those strategies,

     (6) and develop internal and context specific data/analytic systems to refine operational efficiency.

When our goal is to optimize success, there is no room for inefficiency or wasted time. I can help you be your best. I have significant experience with federal, state, and local governments, large and small non-profits and NGOs, public/private partnerships, and a diverse array of private sector initiatives and organizations.
